The anonymous called had just uttered the most top-level, secret code name in the CIA- known to only four people in the United States. And yet, Jim Whitefield deputy director of the CIA, had no idea who was on the line, nor how he had gotten through to his secret phone number.

And so the search was on. From Manhattan to Brooklyn to the Catskill mountains, from Moscow to Kiev to Latvia, from Switzerland to Paris – the elusive caller led both the CIA and KGB on an international chase. Could he keep his secret long enough to get the job done?
It wasn’t easy. But there wasn’t anything else he could have done, the lives of three people depended on him.
